Undertakes to Award Scholarships to Deserving Students Each Year 

Judge Eugene H. Gadsden Scholarship

The Savannah Bar Association established the Judge Eugene H. Gadsden Scholarship in tribute to Judge Gadsden’s fairness, patience, and wisdom. Judge Gadsden served as an inspiration not only to lawyers and judges but also to the community at large. The scholarship is awarded to a graduating high school senior in Savannah to assist in attending an accredited college or university. The award provides $1,000 annually for a period of four years. The award may be used for tuition and fees, books, and other academic expenses charged by the institution. All applicants who have applied for or will receive other financial support must reveal that information with the application. The Savannah Community Foundation administers the scholarship, and applications are now available online via the Foundation’s website at www.savfoundation.org/scholarships. Interested applicants should review the criteria and apply accordingly. All scholarship applications must be submitted by April 10, 2025.

The Savannah Bar Association established the Judge Phyllis Kravitch Scholarship in tribute to Judge Kravitch’s character, integrity, and compassion. The scholarship awards $2,500 to one rising second or third-year law school student from Chatham County, Georgia, based on merit. The award granted may be used for tuition, fees, books, and other academic expenses charged by the institution. All applicants who have applied for or will receive other financial support must reveal that information with the application. The Savannah Community Foundation administers the scholarship, and applications are now available online via the Foundation’s website at www.savfoundation.org/scholarships. Interested applicants should review the criteria and apply accordingly. All scholarship applications must be submitted by April 10, 2025.
