Savannah Bar Association Day at the Georgia Legislature
Last year’s Savannah Bar Association Day at the Georgia Legislature was so successful that we are going to have the event again this year. You may recall Wendy Williamson’s article in The Citation informing us about last year’s event during which our SBA delegation was able to lobby members of the Legislature about whether they should pass a law allowing online legal form companies to be immunized from liability. We can’t promise such a relevant lobbying experience this year, but we can hope! Please join us at the Capitol Building in Atlanta.
Time: 10:30 am to 3:00 pm, Thursday, January 29, 2015
Location: House Judiciary Hearing Room on the first floor of the Capitol Building in Atlanta
Register by: Friday, January 23, 2015
Contact: Catherine Bowman 912-401-0121
Host in Atlanta: Thomas Worthy, Governmental Affairs Director 404-526-8608
Purpose: We will receive a legislative briefing from Mr. Worthy, take a picture with Governor Deal, meet with the State Bar lobbying team, watch the legislature in action from the gallery, or if they are debating anything relating to the practice of law, we can lobby--which happened last year. Lunch will be included for members of our local delegation as well as members of some of the Committees, particularly the Judiciary Committee. We may also be able to see Committee meetings.
This event is in conjunction with the Chamber’s Savannah-Chatham Day. Tickets for the Seafood Fest 2015 may be obtained by Chamber members here.
